Welcome to the Captain's Corner

I work aboard vessels...where I learned a long time ago from my father...

Whether the crew thinks the Captain is wrong or right...

THE CAPTAIN IS ALWAYS RIGHT!   (unless your wife says other)

Captain's View:

I have met some great folks conducting these events. Folks like myself, who wants to see a professionally run tournament series in North Carolina. I have been lucky to have some of the best fishermen on the east coast representing our events. We will continue to grow and improve our events to reflect our professionalism and promote our venues to become the premiere Redfish Series in the Eastern United States. Thank you, the competitors, our staff, our fans, and our sponsors. I hope you continue to follow the Redfish Action tour for years to come and be a part of the action!

Welcome to Redfish Action… Eastern United States Premiere Redfish Series!

Captain Lee Willis, founder of Redfish Action, has been involved in recreational fishing for over 25 years. A former Game Warden with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, Captain Willis, achieved the states and nations highest accolades, earning the Governor’s Award for Heroism and Bravery and selected by the National Association of Police Organization as one of the country’s “Top Cops” (honored in Washington DC in 1996 by then VP Al Gore). His love of eastern North Carolina and his commitment to its resources is one of the reasons why the Redfish Action series is regarded as one of the best ran tournaments on the east coast.

We are committed to make our events affordable. One day events. Most of our competitors live near by or can be to our events in just a few hours. With other tournament series, they are spread out though several states, making it expensive and time consuming for competitors to follow and remain active in those events. We are located in an area what most fishing experts consider the hottest redfish resources and venues in the eastern United States. While focusing on a specific area such as the Crystal Coast, we can give our competitors and sponsors an attention to detail that makes their association with Redfish Action unforgettable.

Our series is built around our competitors. We have events where you can bring your family and enjoy some good old southern hospitality. We encourage families to fish together. It’s not unusual for fathers fishing with sons, husbands with wives, and brothers with brothers.

We have strived hard to make these events where there is little tension. We want our competitors to have a relaxed atmosphere. It’s not unusual for competitors to gather with one another and see what the hot lure is and provide information about hot spots to fish. It’s a collection of great anglers, techniques and sportsmanship.

We are a growing tournament trail that offers competitors a chance to hone their skills fishing a competitive circuit without breaking their wallet.  We provide a great series for the competitor who does not want to be away from home, work, or the family for weeks at a time pre-fishing and fishing other circuits. We appeal to the grass roots of the fishing world. We have pros that fish along side amateurs. We strive to make our events appeal to a wide variety of anglers. It’s great to see that team that has never been through a check-out or a weigh-in before. Just to see the excitement in their eyes, makes our events worth while.

We are a tournament series for everyone! Catch the Action!...Redfish Action!

I really want to take this time and say a very special thank you to our staff. Our staff is volunteers,  they have families and other comittments that they take time away to help me conduct our events. Without them, I would not be able to have any events... so at the next Redfish Action event you attend....pull one of our staff members to the side and say thanks.
